769.1 | League of Silent Float? | LEDS::BUSCH | Dave Busch at NKS1-2 | Thu Nov 17 1988 17:04 | 17 |

< THIS WOULD INCLUDE ELECTRIC AND GAS POWERED CATAGORIES.
We've got a "League Of Silent FLIGHT". How about a "League of Silent FLOAT".
Why do we sailplane and sail boat enthusiasts always seem to get treated like
poor relatives? I've had a 4 foot model of the Emma C. Berry in the works now
for 18 years. Actually, I started it in '71 but never got very far with it
before selling all my RC gear to get started in model railroading. Since getting
back into RC this year, I've resurected the sloop and hope to have it ready for
next summer.

(Let's see now. Two months for the Prodigy, two for the sail boat, a few for
playing with the Amiga, another few to work on the train layout...Hmmmmm! what
have I left out? ..... Oh yes, the family! (rats!))

769.2 | Silent FLOATS Welcome! | SCOMAN::BERNIER | | Fri Nov 18 1988 09:19 | 6 |
| GOOD INPUT! AND MY APOLOGIES TO YOU AND YOUR "LEAGUE". You and
and all sailboat enthusiasts are welcome. It would be nice to get
a group of people with the same intrest (R/C BOATING) together to
swap stories and advice.
Thanks, Andy

769.3 | Show and Tell?! | CIMNET::MSMITH | | Wed Nov 30 1988 12:05 | 20 |
| How about we boaters get together for a little "show and tell"
I'm new to this part of RC and have just completed my first ship.
It hasn't seen its maiden voyage yet, and probably won't until
spring. Would any of you experienced boaters be interested in getting
together to show your wares?
My boat is a hydroplane: Miss Thriftway Too. It is built from
mohogany and plywood and is about 26" long. I could use some pointers
too help me make this baby go. It was not originally designed for RC,
but the instructions say that it can be used for RC. Subsequently,
I was on my own when it came to installing servos, receiver, battery,
etc. and would appreciate someone looking it over before I take
her out for a spin.
Any of you guys want to get together to swap some "war stories"
and show off your ships?

I see by the response to this note since it was started,
that there are some Boaters, or potential Boaters out
there - but the spark hasn't really lit anything off yet.
I can't be the spark, but I may be able to contribute
something if we get going. I'm active in model aircraft,
have in the past done some boating, would love to get
involved in R/C sailing.
So count me in as a sideline observer who is waiting for
the action to begin.
