I'd like to replace the 6mm ball joints in the steering of my Clod Buster with something a little less sloppy. There is so much play between the steering servo and the wheels that the 'behind' wheels (changes depending on which direction you are going) steer a lot more than the front wheels. Can you say 'instability'? Anyone know if there is a decent replacement for 6mm ball joints, and where I could get them? Thanks := fn(response) Willie

Many of the ball joints on my Optima are getting worn from use and abuse. I'd like to replace them as well. I have not found any replacements yet but I'm looking.

Well, I got 3 sets of replacement ball joints made by TEAM CRP and put them in the Clod Buster, which took a lot of the play out of the steering, but now I find that the remainder of the play is due to the steering servo bending in it's mounts. Since I'm going to hack it up for dual steering servos, I'll make sure that they are a bit more securely mounted. One thing is for sure, the next vehicle I have is going to have a rigid aluminum frame and no unavoidable plastic parts! Willie

I forgot to mention, the ball joints I got were supposed to be for the Blackfoot or Monster Beetle, which is why I needed 3 sets. I looked at some all-metal ball joints, but they actually had more play than the metal_ball_in_nylon_end that I ended up with. The Clod Buster has 12 ball joints in it's steering! Willie |
