This past Sunday's Nashua Telegraph had an article about PRIO, and
piqued my interest. But I do sense some mixture of substance and
marketing here, so I'm looking for any new comments - has anyone else
looked further into PRIO since this note started ?
In Usenet, I found the appearance of a running battle between a
supporter and an opponent, but no sign of an objective summary, and
on Usenet you can't tell the idiots without a history lesson.
The Prio web site appears to be a fair amount of hype. My
optometrist's office says that they'll measure for computer glasses,
but don't use PRIO. I've got an appointment (April 1, no less), and
will solicit my Dr's opinion then (and report back if I remember).
(My vision was seemingly fine until 1 year into my career of sitting at
VDTs all day. My father's vision was fine, but my Mother, Brother, and
Sister all were near-sighted in early teens. My current Optometrist
theorized that if I stopped doing close work, my vision could settle
back to normal - though old-age far-sightedness isn't far off now. And
it's quite unlikely that I'll stop, but maybe special glasses would
help approximate that).
