This is for those of you in Canada. Mind you the US guys can use this as
well with appropriate modifications.
This being ho ho season, your mailboxes are more then likely stuffed with all
sorts of request for donations.
Let me make this clear right of the bat. I am in no way suggesting or
insinuating that any of you stop or change your charitable contributions.
Having said that, many of the organizations canvassing funds are operated and
staffed with individuals inclined to alliviating their insecurities by
advocating general restrictions of firearm sports and ownership, right up to
confiscation of firearms. The attached is a good way to remind many of these
individuals that their continued stance will result in, yes a hit in their
pockets. My own un-official analysis contends that outdoorsmen and hunters in
general are on the average very generous contributors to charities and
organizations.
Anyways a form is attached should you choose to do some envelope stuffing.
Les
Dear Organization:
I recently received your request for a donation. Your organization is a very
worthy cause. Normally I would make a contribution. However, due to
circumstances beyond my control, I simply cannot do so. All funds which I
and my family normally give to charities have been diverted to fighting Bill
C-68.
Justice Minister Allan Rock is proposing confiscation of nearly 130 million
dollars worth of legally owned firearms. His proposed firearms registration
system will cost in excess of one billion dollars to establish and another
120 million dollars per year to operate. Mr. Rock has publicly stated that
this money will come from the pockets of law abiding gun owners like me.
This huge expenditure will be a total waste! A firearms registration system
IDENTICAL to that proposed in Bill C-68 was tried in New Zealand. It was
eventually dropped because it was too expensive to operate and ineffective in
reducing firearms misuse.
If Bill C-68 becomes law, seven million Canadians, including me, will be
forced to pay outrageously high fees to register their firearms. Those who
don't comply will risk criminal prosecution. In either case, our families
will inevitably experience major reductions in available funds. This will
have a huge impact on charitable donations.
Worthy causes such as yours should not have to suffer because of Allan Rock's
fixation on punishing law abiding gun owners. The sooner Bill C-68 is
defeated, the sooner my family will be able to offer financial support to
your organization.
Yours Truly
