EHD or Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease, a gnat carried virus that is 90%
fatal to whitetail deer is rampaging in western South Dakota and
Wyoming; also parts of Montana. Some counties in SD have had a 50% die
off just before hunting season. Licenses have been severely curtailed
or cancelled.
The first heavy frost kills the gnats and stops spread of the disease.
Weather in Montana stopped it before it got rolling. Let's hope it does
not spread east to high herd count states like Wisconsin, Michigan or
Pennsylvania.

This sounds like it could become wide spread very easily. What are the
symptoms of this disease? Is there a known cure or preventive measure
one could take?
