For all you upland game hunters who are looking for a good place to get your
dogs on a lot of birds, S. Dakota is having another banner year. All the areas
I hunted were public Walk in Access (WIA's).
Spent 5 days up there hunting with my vizsla and my brother's german shorthair.
Ended up filling my daily limits five days in a row and had to leave cause I
had my possession limit (15 cocks).
Hunts ranged from 20 minutes to 2.5 hours. Birds were plentiful. Ended up
passing on the prairie chickens and sharptails cause I don't like the way
they taste. Probably saw 400-500 pheasants in the five days I was hunting.
People who didn't have dogs were spending much more time afield and not always
getting into the birds.
Got a few good pictures of both of the dogs on point - it is nice to see
them finally honoring - vizsla is 2 1/2 and the shorthair is 3 yrs. old.
The towns are very hunter friendly.
Good luck to all this fall/winter.

RE: -1
I would absolutely LOVE to hunt those areas. Great story about
your dogs; I'd be psyched too.
