1452.1AREA X9A TRIP REPORT HIGH SIERRA HUNTSTNKBG::MELENDEZMon Sep 11 1995 20:2824
HI GANG,
Its open season on Saturday for our Area X9A.
I have tried to be drawn for this area for 12 years.
Well this year Im in. I went out to scout the area
and found Two good sites, One has a mountain Lion in
it so there are deer. The other is an oasis in a base
of a canyon. There were deer sign in both places but
I never saw a live deer.

Here in California the seasons open up in August and
there are numerous area that you may hunt. Each area
has a quota for hunters and deer. If the quota gets
filled the area is closed. On the average the take is
only 6% for the entire state, so X9A is impresive with
a take of just under 30%. BTW you can only take one deer
here unless you get an area like the A zone witch comprises
the coast or the b zone with the northern 1/3 of the state

The 300 Weatherby is sighted in and ready, I have the meals
all planed and the spot is picked. all I need to do now
is go out and get skunked.

good hunting
Joe
