1451.0. "LOOKING FOR SOME EXPERT ADVISE!!" by MKOTS3::CONNOR_J () Mon Aug 07 1995 10:57

I would like to take a Firearms safety course so that I can get a
Hunting Lics. I have been dealing with Concord N.H. Fish+Game but so
far no classes have been scheduled near my area. I live in Boscawen
    which is north of Concord.
My question is there another way that a person like myself could
take a gun safety course and have it be accepitable enough for a
    Hunting lics.

    FYI,

I stood in my barn yesterday stairing at 3 Bucks no more than 25
yards away. 1 was 8 point,1 was 6 points and the youngest had only 2
stubby spikes. My quess would be the 2 largest went atleast 250-300
lbs. Also the corn fields in the surrounding areas are full of Black
Bear. I took a walk in a corn field and found alittle trail leading
into a spot that looked like someone came in with a lawn mower and
dropped a huge area, after looking around I found droppings and Bear
prints. I suddenly felt very scared being surronded by 10' corn stalks
knowing that a Bear had been in there, when I first went in the trail I
    thought I was tracking Deer!!

Looks like a great Hunting season coming up and I would like to take
part in it,Thanks for listning all you Hunters!!!!!!!

    Hi,
Pick up a copy of Hawkeye, the free NH hunting and fishing
newspaper printed in Milford, NH. You can find it in
grocery/convenience stores, sporting/gun shops. They usually post
Hunter Ed. courses at this time of year.

I dont know if Carey Timmons is still an instructor for fish & game
but he was the chief instructor for the concord area, you may want t
give him a call and see.

When I was teaching the bowhunter portion of the hunter education
class we usually held a class starting in mid september till mid/late
    october.

Right from the book. "Anyone applying to hunt with a firearm must
present a previous license or Certificate of Completion from an approved
    HUNTER Education course."

A lot of states are now requiring certificates for Bow Hunting
also. I just saw listed in a local paper that Mass was offering a
    BlackPowder Hunting Ed course.

Need a Hunting partner to help curb the population up there?

Call up F&G. They were very helpful yesterday when I called up for
the same reason for a friend. There's one in Andover, Manchester, and
Barnstead.....I guess Andover would be closest. They'll give you the
dates and times of the classes as well as a contact number to sign up.
