1410.0. "Buck kills hunter/Hunter kills Buck" by 31803::PAPPALARDO (PCBU Mfg/Logistics) Wed Nov 09 1994 09:56

Heard from one of our Canada Dec people that a hunter was found
dead in the woods and his body was laying along-side a large full-rack
    buck.

The game wardens reconstructed the scene and after completion of an
autopsy they confirmed that after the hunter shot the big buck,
he was standing over the bucks head when the buck jumped up for one
    final effort.

When the deer jumped up his "G2" tine punctured the hunters main artery
between his inner-leg and his testicle.

The hunter bled to death in a few minutes......

Both the big buck and hunter were found laying along side each other,
    where obviously, they killed each-other.

Sounds like one of those "what good news/what bad news" stories...

Yeah...after I was told the story, I asked...gee, did they get the

I've said I'd give my left one for a huge buck, but that is a little
    too close for comfort!

once while glassing a hillside in Utah I spied a fellow who had just
shot a really nice 4 point Mule deer. He was so excited that he ran
down in front of the deer and was admiring it. He was hunting with
several others and they came running over the Hill because he was
screeming so loud. As they came over the hill the deer jumped up and
charged the guy. he grabbed both antlers with his hands and was able
to keep the deeron the ground until his friend came over and shot the
deer in the head with a pistol. by the way he had set his rifle down
after the initial shot and was unarmed. Later I talked with this guy
and discovered that the deer had indeed gotten him with its horns, he
was a little overweight and the deer only cut him through the fat of
his belly. His jeans were shreded and he had severla cuts on his legs.
the moral of the story is dont be stupid, approach any animal from
behind and dont go unarmed to look at a down deer.

I would have had to shoot about 600 yards to get to the deer from my
location. This guy was lucky, and a lot smarter now.... I saw him
last year in Utah and he showed me the scars. He also told me that he
had the deer head done and he placed the jeans on the antlers..

On wednesday I had my deer butchered and we were all talking and I
mentioned the Canada story. My butcher says I had a guy in here that
basicly did the same thing but the buck charged him. One of the tines
gored him and the deer also bit him on the inside of his thigh. They
all laughed at him and he said I'll prove it and dropped his pants to
show the scares. Talk about a tatoo ........
