1345.0. "FELLOW HUNTER NOT IN NRA" by ODIXIE::RHARRIS (Life member of the NRA!) Wed Feb 02 1994 13:33

Attention all hunters, call Wess Vandenbark at 513-868-5326 and tell
him to join the nra. I have tried numerous times to get Wess to join,
and he keeps procrastinating. If you fellow hunters hound him, perhaps
    he will join us comrades!

abything left to hunt with!!

It's too bad too. I wish all hunters would belong to the NRA. Not only
does the NRA help the shooting population but they also help hunters in
many ways also. It's not just shooters that the anti-gun movement is
after, they are after ALL persons that own firearms. We (NRA Members)
could sure use their help. There is power in numbers and I can only
imagine at the membership would be like in the NRA if ALL hunters were
to become members. I am a hunter AND a member of the NRA AND a member
of GONH. And proud of it!

I don't know the base noter or Wess. If Wess doesn't want to join
by choice, let him be. I wish everyone that participated in hunting
were members of the NRA and GO-NH like I am.

BTW, I don't hunt anymore. I enjoyed it when I was younger and life was
still moving at a slower pace. I come in to read to keep up on things.

I gave Wess enough hell that he finally joined. We all need to realize
that we are always trying to protect our rights as hunters, such as
image, proper transportation of carcass, clean kills etc.

It all comes down to one thing. IF you do not support your rights to
own and use firearms, the archery file is going to explode, because
that's whatcha gonna hunt with boyz.

And for those of you who haven't figured it out yet, Wess and myself
are buddies. We rag each other all the time. Hell, I rag everyone,
and everyone rags me. That's what it's all about.

to many days until bow season!!!!!!

    Guys,

Well, Bob finally got me to join. I have been "going to" for about 5
    years and never have.

I guess I just looked at it as "They don't need me, I'm only one guy".
But that's the same thing Bob's wife says and she needs me all of the
    time!

I think alot of people think of it that way. They won't miss me if I
don't join, I'm only one person, the others will protect my rights! I too
am a NRA member and if the NRA wasn't lobbing for us, who would?? I
just hope we can win the battle because there are more and more people
everyday being brainwashed into thinking, we have to get rid of those
evil guns, there the cause of all the crime and killings in our
society today! Why does anyone need guns anyways? If we don't change
this way of thinking, we can kiss hunting goodbye.

WHAT HE SAID!!!

Although I don't mind the idea of archery only either... ;^)

it'd be something to see the membership numbers if every hunter joined!!!
Just think of the clout!!!

Just to add my 2 cents. The anti's are not going to go away until
ALL guns are banned. That is their agenda. Remember what was said "The
Brady Bill is the first step". Now they are proposing much much more
gun control that will affect everyone who owns a gun. Whether it be
for hunting, target or protection. I would like to see everyone who
owns a gun join NRA. NRA is the only thing standing between us having
    or not having guns.

Whenever I'm on the phone to the NRA, which is averaging about twice
a week, they say they are getting at least 2000 new members a day.
This is due to clintonism and renosoraus.

    Let's keep bustin it.

    bob
I think the NRA has got over $700 from me this month. $500 for life
membership, $100 for second ammendment task force, and then $100 for
    the ILA.
1345.11I try to send somethingWHEN::BINGFri Feb 04 1994 09:256

I send them $5-$10 bucks each time they ask for money. It's not
much but if the over 3mil members sent in $5 everytime they were
    asked to it would help.

1345.12Sign up everyone you can fidSUSAN::HELMREICHSteveMon Feb 07 1994 13:4017
My 'donation' is signing people up. The person you sign up may go gonzo - life
membership, big donations, etc. So, the $25 now could have a big impact down
the line.

Also, Dillon Precision, who makes reloading equipment, will chip in $10 and
send you a $10 or 10% discount certificate if you give an NRA membership as a
gift.

So, call 1-800-223-4570 (nice phone #, huh?). You'll pay $15 to sign up a
member, and get a discount when/if you order from them.

Of course, you can just sign up members through the NRA for $25.

Don't think that bows are not in line to be banned also. There have
been bills introduced to stop hunting by bow and arrow. We all should
do as much as possible on a Nationwide (NRA) and State level.

I seem to remember a guy in Canada who couldnt get a gun so he
used a crossbow to kill his ex. I think they then wanted tighter
controls on cross bows. Plus there was the crossbow rapist
in NJ(?). And now in Cal,NJ and somewhere else you can't buy
"Dangerous" knives thru mail order houses like Bass Pro Shops.
If someone somewhere thinks it's dangerous or they dont like it
they can/will try to ban it.

The NRA addresses both riflery and hunting in its monthly publications
"AMERICAN HUNTER" and "AMERICAN RIFLEMAN" so they are working to keep
hunting alive and well, as well as helping us to keep our guns. I went
on at some length in FIREARMS notes about joining the NRA. One
benefit is a fee free VISA card with a payed up membership, I have a
lot of people inquire about the NRA when I use my card, I always try to
give an informative and polite answer, I try never to project a MACHO,
"I'll kick your A**" type answer which a lot of people have a mistaken
idea that thats what the NRA is all about. I let them know that the
number of woman joining is going through the roof. My personal opinion
    is "ANTI-gun is PRO-RAPE".
