| Bob,
There was a guy popping people in Ohio that was featured in this
month's Buckmasters. He shot mainly from the road and most of the time
shot his victims multiple times. He even killed a small herd of cattle
with a bow/crossbow.
They finally caught the guy, he was a drunken loser.
Sometimes I wonder if some of these shootings are from Anti Hunters who
are taking it too far?
I hope they catch the skag.

A couple years ago there was a book published by a moron who called
himself screaming wolf. In it he came right out and said something
along the lines of "Go out and kill hunters, we'll make them afraid
to go out and hunt". So it is possible that there *may* be a real
rabid anti out there doing the shooting.

This is a question of curiosity. Has been determined what time of day
the shootings have taken place?

| I don't know the answer to this. This took place while I was in the
woods in the U.P. We got it from my hunting partner's wife who was
very concerned when he called home. Since we were over 300mi from this
location she was mollified.
But the news sparked a discussion about hunting the hunter who was
hunting hunters. All the advantage would go to "him". We would not
know who it was and would be ethically bound where he is not. We would
have to discover locate and observe while remaining completely
undetected. It would an extremely dangerous endeavor. More so than
any other possible hunt.
Assuming it was at all possible to get a probable identification as the
"perp" went into the woods, think of the difficulty in maintaining
contact undetected until you were sure he was about to strike. Even
then, he would probably be able to see his quarry while you could not
and what would you do even if you could. Do you wait until he kills to
be sure? What then? Do you strike first? What, shoot a hunter who is
glassing the trees with his scope?
A terribly tough problem.

I agree, this is a tough situation regardless of location. Years ago I
hunted in UP, believe that it was up around Iron Mountain. Let me just
say that outsiders weren't really welcomed, unless they were with a
local resident. This is not a negative reflection just an observation
on some things that happened during the visit there. We where a group
of about five, three who claimed the area as home.
This makes me wonder about hunters who have been reported lost and
never found and past accidents where the hunters have been either died
or where wounded. This type of thing could have been going on longer
than we suspect, just never realized it until death rates etc., were
higher?
