    Disclaimer: This note is purely informational (FYI) -- I have no
    professional connections with the mfg. of said product (never even
    heard of them before!)

    Some buddies and I were out duck hunting last weekend in NH, and one of
    the guys had these strange but effective boot attachments with him.  He
    said they are a product called "Mudders", which he said he bought
    directly from the mfg. (can't remember their name?!?), who are
    apparently located right there in Merrimack.  Anyway, they are these
    rather ugly looking black plastic devices which attach via straps to
    any size hunting boot or wader.  They don't do much when just walking
    around on normal ground, but when the wear traverses across soft mud,
    these wing-like devices expand off the sides, creating a wide,
    duck-like footing.  When we were out in the marsh, this guy was
    effortlessly walking across really soft areas which we all had to
    avoid!  My understanding is that the mfg. guarantees they will work
    over *any* soft surfaces.  We were all pretty impressed, but at around
    $120. a pop, they're not just your average hunting accessory.  Pretty
    useful, however, for those duck or deer hunters who frequent wet areas.

	I could use something like that. This year, the marsh I hunt in has been very low on water, combination of an overzealous beaver and lack or rain. Places we normall conoe right across require us to use the canoe as a sled, one foot in, one out and slide it across, there is simply no bottom to push off of. Also, the edge, getting into the swamp grass, we have to cross about 6 feet of mud. I have on a couple of occasions, given up getting my foot out and just sat in the canoe and pulled my foot out of my hip boot, then pulled the hip boot out and put it back on. Makes for dirty socks, but it's better than trying to shoot buried up to my thigh in mud :-) --Bob

	Can you walk on water? 4 more hours of this wonderful working environment, and then the pEARL man and myself are outta here. Heading out in the morning for south Georgia. Opening weekend of gun season. I can't wait. I'll be back on Tuesday. Ya'll have a killer weekend. I just can't wait to get out in the woods. A nice cool front is blowing through tonight. Perfect! 	RE: Bob in -1 Seeing these in action, I doubt highly they would allow you to walk on water (I doubt anything would do that). My friend Rick (with the Mudders) says they've been "field tested" from your std tidal muck to very fine quicksand-like silts, and have passed the "buoyancy" test. 	Upon receiving the information in reply .4, I wrote Amark, Inc. for some general product info on their Mudders. The propoganda looks pretty impressive, but what was most noteworthy was the current price. Apparently, these regularly go for $109. a pair ($7.00 s+h). Amark is currently having an over-stock sale on Mudders for the price of $89.00 a pair!! (including free s+h for orders of two or more pairs). Not bad...
