1304.0. "hunting info needed for Washington state" by FPTMV3::OSOWSKI () Wed Sep 29 1993 15:56

Could someone help me with info on hunting big game out in
the state of Washington ? I'm travelling to Seattle in mid November
for training and have a free weekend.
I need to know if and what type of hunting is going on, around
Nov. 13th and 14th, and what a non resident license would cost.

Also would I have to travel far from Seattle to hunt and is their
    land open to hunting nearby.

Any info is appreciated, thanks Brian.

    Brian,

I just moved back to Mass from Seattle...I got to do some duck hunting
on the Hood Canal, deer hunting in the cascades and goose hunting in
Eastern Wa, (as a matter of fact my picture is in the Washington/Oregon
Camera corner this month - Oct. Issue ;-)....

I do not know what will be open in Nov., the regulations are extremely
detailed, high mountain hunts, low hunts, east west, etc., one thing I
did notice was that whenm you buy your license you have to determine
which method of hunting you are choosing, bow, muzzleloader or rifle,
unlike N.H. or Ma where you can hunt all three (I think anyway)...

    A non-resident license will run you about $70-80.00. If there's a
goose season going on in Nov, I suggest calling the Burbank Goose Club
in the Tri-cities area (eastern Wa.), it's a guide service for duck &
goose, they are excellent. They do book up, so call early. It's a 3-4
hour drive from Seattle, but well worth it, especially since you will
not have time to scout around.

    Good luck,

    Erik
