1266.0. "N.H. Antler & Skull Club" by AIMHI::PAPPALARDO () Mon Apr 26 1993 12:49

Took a ride up to Groveton, N.H. yesterday to check out the
N.H. Skull & Antler club's anual display of the record-book bucks
    taken in N.H..

The N.H. club scores bucks using the B&C scoring method however, the
minimum score for the state is 115 where as B&C is 170.

Anyone can bring their trophy rack to be displayed or measured onsite
to maybe get into the books. There was one deer from Mass. and a few
from Canada but these where for display only and not to be entered as
only N.H. bucks or Bears can be entered.

Groveton is about 30-40 miles south of Pittburg, N.H., 60 miles south
of Canada and next years show will be there as well. (Groveton
    High-School).

I was impressed as to the quality of racks coming out of N.H. my buck
which netted 123 from 134 is beautiful but there had to be over
100 bucks that scored 170-190 range that's unbelivable.

There were over 250 heads on display with all types of configuations,
drop-tines, webbing, non-typ as well as typicals ofcourse..very large
very thick racks. This big big boys were taken in every county in the
state mostly from the northern tier but Rockingham county produced some
big deer which could give the Northern counties a run for the money.

The Antler club is only in its 3rd year and is proving to the big
out-door rags that you don'y need to travel far for a chance at a
    record-book buck.

IF you can remember I suggest you check it out next year. If you have
or know of any big bucks that were taken in N.H. and not recored you
should contact the Club so someone can measure it for you.

I'll post the contact info I have at home later. Just wanted to share
my experience of the show with everyone here.

BTW: Last year's number 1,2,3 for the state were there. You had to
see them......Un-Beliveable!!!!! they make you be more selective
when hunting. I don't know passing up deer in N.H. could get
to be a habit with me...
