1265.0. "NY License fee jump up." by WFOV12::CHANG () Fri Apr 23 1993 15:14

    I have just been told by the New York Fish and Game dept that
    the price for a NON-resident license for big game hunting with
    a rifle is now $100.00 and Bow is now another $100.00. It entitles
    you to three deer per season. The Combo License is for Fishing, Small
    Game, and Black power which costs $225.00. It seems that they are
    trying to make a killing on non-residents or just keep them out, don't
    know which. But I won't be spending $100 or $200 or $225, so I am
    outa there. Isnt life just great.

    N.H. did this sort of strategy many years ago. As a result my
    non-resident family members found it hard to pay the fees required.

    They're paying close to $200. for bow,muzzle-loader,gun to hunt deer.
    But, the bow-season is 90 days and black-powder and rifle combined
    is somewhere in the 40+ day mark. The available land you can hunt is
    pretty much wide-open and depending on which part of the state you go
    you could hunt for two weeks without seeing anyone else also, Sunday
    hunting is permitted.

    New Hampshire non-res hunters dropped to the point where the lost
    funds impacted the Game-dept. But as a Resident I still pay close
    to $60-$65 for all my tags and stamps to hunt. I'm not complaining!

    New York has lots of posted land in the south many many hunters and
    many many deer but, the deer are small, the requlations are a lawyers
    nightmare. I was considering N.Y. but for $225. I'll go to Vermont.

1265.2Lifetime LicencesDORIAN::RIEGLEDCustomer Service, Ithaca, NYMon Apr 26 1993 17:304
    If you are a New York resident who is concidering a move out of state,
    you may want to think about a lifetime licence. You get a permenant
    backtag, new carcas tags and permit stubs each year, and you maintain
    your resident status for life.

    I called the Fish and game department. Here's the breakdown. $100.00
    Gun, $100.00 Bow, $75.00 Muzzle Loader. You can buy any license you
    want. Or go for the $225.00 which includes all your big game tags,
    small game, and fishing. Also, ther're having meetings about moving the
    muzzle loader season ahead of the gun season. I like that idea. Plus
    the 3 deer tags.

    I'm going back, there's lots of deer and turkeys. Plus I have
    permission to hunt on a good farm.
