1246.0. "Off season potpourri..." by RIPPLE::CORBETTKE () Tue Jan 26 1993 12:39
It being the "off-season", I thought we could start a note about
hunting related stories/events that might interest other hunters.
This article appeared in the local paper.
Bend - Shoppers gaped and clerks jumped as two deer went scampering
through the aisles of the Emporium Dept. Store Friday.
"Everybody just started jumping up on the stools," said shoe depts
clerk Cherie DeLosAngeles, who saw one of the deer come through the
front doors around 10:30 a.m.
One of the deer, a full-grown doe at least 2 years old, was quickly
ushered out a stockroom door.
But State Dept. of Fish and Wildlife officials were called in to help
subdue the second doe which was trapped in the ladies fitting room.
The cornered deer bucked and kicked the orange slats of the stall and
broke the mirror as people stood back and waited for help to arrive. A
green tarpaulin thrown over the animal to shield it from the lights
quieted it down enough that it could be removed. The state Fish and
Wildlife biologist said the deer appeared to be in good shape and would
be released in the Tumalo deer winter range.
