| Shhhhhhhhh. I heard the same thing about a week ago - Hope it's going
to become reality! They're probably not broadcasting it too loudly so
that the anti's don't get all stirred-up again.

| If they do that maybe I'll finally win the lottery. Every year I put in
and haven't even come close. With the anti's theyll probably cut it at
250. But at least that will be an improvement.

1231.3 | How and when do you apply? | ESKIMO::RINELLA | | Fri Dec 18 1992 08:42 | 9 |

My friend and I were thinking of entering the lottery but we weren't
sure what has to be done! How do you apply and what are the costs for
the application and the license if you win?? If you do shoot one how the
hell do you drag it out?? I heard you need a skidder but whats that
gonna cost and whats the price on butchering it?? Seems like it starts
to get pretty expensive..

1231.4 | to me it would be priceless | SALEM::MACGREGOR | | Fri Dec 18 1992 09:10 | 9 |
| re .3 The lottery application fee is $10. If you win residents pay
$100 for the license and non-residents pay $300. You don't necissarily
need a skidder but it sure would help. You could take it out in pieces.
This past hunting season a school teacher from Manchester I think got a
moose she had the help of 28 people to get it out in one piece. If you
happen to get a 1000 lb. moose you will at leat get 500 lbs. of meat
out of it. And there is no price put on the enjoyment of the hunt plus
possibly getting the trophy of a lifetime. IMHO.

I guess it's not as expensive as I thought. $110 dollars is not bad
at all. So were do you get the applications and when do they have to be
in by?? Are there certain areas you can only hunt?? I know of three moose
running around in Windham N.H., just ten minutes away from my house!:')

Are you sure you can take the moose out in pieces? I know when they
originally started, the moose could be gutted, but the carcass had
to be in one piece. If they have changed this it means that they
realize a moose is somewhat bigger than a deer :-)
As for where you hunt, my understanding is that it is only open in
the norther part of the state, and they tell you which "area" to hunt.
Exactly what an area is I don't know, but you sure can't get one in
Windham :-)

| I thought I had read or heard that about checking in a moose intact
also. Thats why I had asked about dragging it out! If you can take it out
in quarters, that would make life alot easier. Well at least I'll be able
to use my recently bought 7mm, thats if I get picked;'). I wonder what
will happen when the moose population in Southern N.H. starts getting
larger?

1231.9 | roadside moose | SALEM::MACGREGOR | RKBA is the 1st and 2nd (BoR) way | Mon Apr 12 1993 12:11 | 9 |
| My wife, stepson and I were leaving yesterday morning at 10:30 to go up
to a friends house for Easter dinner when one mile from my apartment
building in Londonderry were 3 moose standing on the side of the road.
Rt. 93 was only 100 yards away and it was just a mile south of exit 5.
Think there might be a chance Londonderry could open up this year? I
have a copy of the areas at home that will be open and I know
londonderry isn't one of them. It sure was neat to see.
