| It's illegal to post someone elses land without permission. This
brings up a good subject on posting and ethics in general. After
spending a lot of time working with a particular farmer and developing
a relationship, I was given exclusive rights to hunt his land. Prior
to this _no one_ was given permission to hunt for at least ten years.
Before that time he let anyone hunt it and had many problems with
vandalism, litter, etc.. Part of the deal with me getting permission
was that I kick anyone out who was trespassing. He gave me a letter
indicating that I could do so and sent a copy to the local PD. This
land is liberally posted, and is located in a town that is "Land Owner
Permission Only". I bet I have kicked off at least thirty guys in two
years of hunting this land. People don't care. The opening line from
at least half these idiots is "Hey, I've been hunting this land for
years, what gives him the right to post it!" Smarten up folks, it's
attitudes like this that will ban hunting all together. The owners
wife was on the land during the begining of pheasant season and asked
two "gentlemen to leave and was told to "go &**^% yourself". I'm at
the stage now where if I see people on the land I will quietly leave
and get the cops. They have told me they are very willing to arrest
someone and make an example out of them, and the land owner is willing
to press the point in court. I guess the purpose of this is to point
out that we don't have some God given right to trespass on anyones
land. The damage done by idiots who ignore posted signs damages all
of us when the time comes that your town votes on limiting hunting. We
need to get smarter and better at improving our image.

| Jeff,
I know how you feel. They are putting a subdivision on the back side
of my friends farm and i think every construction worker that was
building the houses has been kicked off of my friends farm. One guy
even had the nerve to tell my friend(Bob) that he had permission. Bob
threw him out and the very next day Bob's brother ran into the same guy.
He told Bob's brother that Bob gave him permission! This family
brings "Redneck" to a new level. Bob and two of his brothers went out
with AR15's and shot about 300 rounds all over the place...Yes I know,
Stupid. Another guy I know ran into this trespasser about a week later
and was told that the trespasser was down in a sinkhole scared to
death for over an hour. The trespasser then told him that if he ran
into Bob or his brother again someone was going to get hurt! This guy
is about 60. Most of the time the older guys have more respect for
trespassing but not this guy. Bob has since called the game warden,
police, etc. I guess No Hunting signs posted every 30 yards aren't
enough?

| Wess,
Is this Kentucky? I personally think that a round of .223 is ready to
do some talking to those boys, don't you? Either that, or have the
rubber from their vehicle meet my uncle.
UNCLE HENRY!
Bob (sobbing because the last weekend of regular season is 48 hours
away)

| Deerhuntermeistersupreme,
Yes it is Ky. It turns out that the guy lives about a mile down the
road and is probably walking in. Bob said he told the game warden and
that should do the trick.
You said that your season will be over in a couple of days, is that
rifle only or is bow going out too?
Ky has a 7 day muzzleloading season that comes in on the 14th. I guess
I will piss the wife off a few more times when that comes in.
Good luck,
Wess

| Wess,
Bow season was over October 23. Northern zone gun season ends on
December 6, picking up again for just one week effective 12-26.
On the other hand, where Earl hunts, the southern zone, the season
doesn't even shut down at all until January 10. I am definetely
joining that hunting club next year, and I think red is to.
It's ok, trout season is in March, pregardening is in February,
golf in spring, and then I'll pick up the bow again in August.
At least I have plenty of books, tapes, pictures and memories to last
a few months. But it ain't over yet!

You need to contact the Town/City office to see what the law is. When I
went to a Bow Hunter Education course in N.H. I asked the Game Warden
attending a couple of questions concerning posting. He first said check
the town regulations which can be different, and my second question was
around land posted "NO HUNTING" but the owner hunts it or lets others.
He stated that the game is owned by the STATE and NOT the LANDOWNER but
there are NO laws prohibiting the type of signs used. If "WE" wanted to
see that change then "OUR" elected officials would have to pass a law
state wide to change it.
