A Guy brought in a 226# 8 pointer (20"+ inside spread) into the Bills Arrow Shop Monday night. Bottomed out Bills 200# scale. The thing was enormous!!! He shot it in Hubbardston, one shot thru the lungs... Had it officially weighed elsewhere, what a monster. Bill is doing the mount and has the rack there in his shop. Mass is growing some biggies! GEEZ! Throw a damn saddle on that one. How long of a drag was it? Is the hunter in the hospital for a hernia? With a deer like that, one deer will fill you freezer. bob | |||||

Several years ago (12 or 13, maybe), my grandfather shot a deer near his home in Northern Maine that field dressed at 325lbs. I believe that was the largest deer shot in Maine that year. Anyways, the meat was so tough that they could hardly eat it, and they said that the meat smelled bad as it was being cooked. They said it was due to the age of the deer... it was *real* old. I'll have to see if I can dig up more info on his deer (i.e. age, points, ect...). He didn't have the head mounted, but they had the rack done. Pretty impressive..... it is almost as wide as the 30-30 that he shot it with. -Ron- |
