1216.0. "TOPO MAPS?" by SHARE::MARSHALL (shoot till ya puke.....!) Wed Oct 28 1992 09:53

I was looking for information on obtaining Topo maps for Rhode
Island. I have checked the best part of all RI and cannot find
a map. Is there a place that I could order these maps from? I even
talked to the DEM game wardens and they said go to a bookstore. I
went to several and they did not carry them. Thanks for any assistance
in getting my hands on a topo map.

Have you tried the Fish & Game Dept? I'm sure they could point you in a
    direction for a shorter timeframe.

       Guy,

Believe it or not thats where I started......they told me to check
out the book stores in Rhode Island. I even asked which book store and
they told me Barnes and Noble. I called them and several other book
stores and they did not carry them.

I just had a novel idea! (pun intended re:bookstore)

I just looked in the yellow pages under maps, found several sources for
maps. One is Barney's Bicycle in Worcester. Gave them a call and he
said they have all of Mass. I didnt ask about any other states. I
figure I'll just head over next Wednesday and check it out. Will let
you know how extensive his inventory is...

Try Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) I got some there last year, all of
Mass. You could call them there on R.I. maps, there is one store in
Natick and one in Boston not sure of others.

1216.9Try Wide World of MapsDESERT::HORNTue Nov 03 1992 13:3310
There is a store in Phoenix that carries topo's and all other kinds of
maps for locations all around the world. What they don't have in their
store, they will get for you. They have two locations in the Phoenix
area, that I know of...there could be more. The name of the store is
"Wide World of Maps". One is located on Scottsdale Road in Tempe, AZ.
For a phone number try Phoenix information, 1-602-555-1212 - ask for
    the Phoenix area.

    good luck

The Globe Corner Bookstore (Harvard Sq., Cambridge and downtown
Boston) has an excellent selection of maps: topos, ordinance
surveys, sectionals, various internation surveys. They'll do
mailorder but you'll have to call information for the numbers.

Another source that I have used several times for topos is the Outdoor
Store in Natick. They have most, if not all maps for the New England
States. They are constantly keeping their inventories replenished so
as mentioned, their stock is quite good.

    Hi Roger Chang here

If you look in the phone book and locate the closest surveying co.
you will find that they carry all kinds of maps and will sell them to
you for the cost they pay for them which is about $2.50 a map. They
also can answer any questions you might have in reading them correctly.
    Hope this helps
    Roger
