1201.0. "Golden Eagle" by KNGBUD::LAFOSSE () Wed Sep 30 1992 11:00

    Well, it finally happened, and not at the most convienent time...

    my bow exploded!!! sent my arrow soaring about 30 yds off course, and
    with a broadhead no less... Almost shot the dog, found the arrow 20
    minutes later after an intensive search. my cables unwound, tear drop
    broke off, peep cracked, sight pins shattered, limbs are probably toast
    also. bringing it to Tee Pee today at lunch to have him check it out.

    It' a Golden Eagle... anyone got a telephone number for them??? Also,
    anyone got any info on the warranty Golden Eagle carries???

    a speedy reply with the phone number would be most appreciative.

            How old is the bow?

      My limb seperated a couple years ago about this same time of year,
    they were holding an inventory at the time, they were shut down but
    the girl that I talked to got me the replacement limbs and ups red them
    to me I had them in 2 days from my initial call.

       If you have any problems give me a shout and I will see what I can
    do since this place is only 5 miles from dec.

    	Geez, Fra, are you alright???!!! here's hoping you're just a
    bit shaken, and not broken. I gotta tell you, you have the WORST luck.
    Was it last year you had the broken wrist/thumb/arm (whatever, can't
    really remember, just that you were "out" with the compound), and now
    this.. Man you deserve a big ol buck...

1201.4you said it Rob!! KNGBUD::LAFOSSEWed Sep 30 1992 14:0728
    Just got back from The archery store... Looks like all it really needs
    is some new cables, and of course the incidentals like a string
    (shreaded), and peep/pins... cables are gonna run $15 not sure if that
    includes labor... looking at $50 anyway

    Was a big relief when I got there, The salesman (brian) told me not to
    worry about it, He was heading to VT also, think he took heart. Just
    hopeing the guy who's actually going to fix it is just as
    understanding. If all else fails, tomorrow i'll just buy a new bow!!!

    "but honey, what else could I do" ;^) my wife, she knows all my tricks!

    Didn't really shake me up too much, luckily the limbs didn't snap. Got
    slapped by the string and the tear drop hit me in the wrist and cut it.
    But other than that I came out in good shape. What really shook me up
    is that I couldn't find the arrow right away, and I was tuning my
    broadheads that I just ordered (Wasp XLL 115's), 20 minutes later I
    found it stuck in the wood pile, next to the dog...

    ad it shooting excellent too, what a bummer... now I have to retune it
    and resight it with the new peep... Pain in the a$$... Incredible
    timing...

    Thanks for the good words and the offer guys... called Golden Eagle and
    they said if the limbs are toast, they'll cover them... I'll know
    better tomorrow.

1201.5use another bow until repairs are doneUNYEM::GEIBELLDIAMOND J CHARTERSWed Sep 30 1992 14:1318

    Fra,

       One thing I wanted to mention in my last reply was to ask if you had
    another bow to practice with? the reason being is because when
    something like this happens most people will get shy of drawing the
    bow, I am still nervous every time I hear a little squeak when I draw
    the bow back, I have used a whole can of distilled 3 in 1 oil since
    the bow limb broke.
      The very first thing I did after I quit shakeing was went in the
    house and got my backup bow out, went outside and started shooting,
    but for the first week of shooting the eagle was nerve wrecking as heck
    so if you can get your hands on another bow to shoot do it.
