1196.1 | A new hunting partner | CSC32::J_HENSON | What do animal lovers feed pets? | Fri Aug 20 1993 12:24 | 19 |
| I am proud and pleased to report that my youngest son, Morgan, has
successfully completed the Colarado Hunter Education course. He
is now the proud owner of his very owner Hunter Ed. card, and very
soon he will have his very first small game license and begin
accompanying me in the field.
As a side note, Morgan was the youngest person in the class. There
were several kids just a bit older, though. Also, it took a lot of
coaching, coaxing and nudging on my part to keep him on track, and
the instructor was very generous regarding the test. After grading
his test, he suggested that I go over the 1st ten questions with
Morgan and he would re-grade it. By doing this, he made the grade.
If it weren't for the fact that Morgan is wanting to hunt, I would
have held off on the course and waited a few more years. I really
think that 9 is a bit young for the course (at least in Morgan's case).
It's tough on kids that age to sit through 3 consecutive 3 1/2 hour
classes after they've have a busy day.

| Congrats to Morgan.
My son completed his course at the age of 8, so I know how proud you
are. Its alot of fun to have your son by your side in the woods
teaching him the things you were taught by your dad or grandad.

Here it is straight from the paper:
A hunter education course will be held Sept 7 beginning at 7 PM
at the first station on Bond Street (Brookline NH).
In New Hampshir, a would-be hunter must show either an old
hunting license or a certificate of completion from a hunter
education course in order to purchase a hunting license from an
authorized agent. This law affects hunters regardless of age, years
of hunting experience ormilitary training.
The hunter education course includes instruction in safe handling
of firearms oand arhcery equipment, outdoor survival skills and medical
selfhelp. The course also covers the priciples of game managment
and identification as well as New Hamshire game laws and hunter
ethics.
A written examination and a field test will be required.
For information, call George Farwell at 673-4990 (area code 603).
Hope you can make it, short notice -- Bob

1196.11 | NH Bowhunter Safety Courses 1995 | ABACUS::BIONDI | | Tue Aug 15 1995 15:04 | 28 |
| Hi,
* New Hampshire Fish and Game Bowhunter Education Program at
603-271-3214. Courses are going on now and will continue through early
September. For more information and list of course locations call. *
Just thought I would pass this on. Someone left me this from the
Nashua NH Broadcaster newspaper, 09-AUG-1995.
Excerpt and outlined without permission.
3-D shoot called the Bowhunter Challenge will be held Sunday, Aug. 27
at the Monadnock Rod and Gun club off Rte. 202 between Jaffrey and
Peterbourough. This is not a typical 3-D shoot. No trouphies will be
awarded. It's simply the archer testing himself against
bowhunter-style scoring as advocated by the late William H. Wadsworth,
a noted educator and bowhunter. "Participants in the Challenge walk a
trail through the woods, where 30 life like 3-D animal targets have
been set to simulate actual hunting situations.
Event to be held rain or shine. The fee is $6 for those 12 and older.
Archers should bring their hunting bow and arrows with field points.
Shooters may begin the course anytime between 7 am and noon. All paid
shooters will be eligible to win a compound bow donated by Steve's
Sportsmen's Den in Hooksett.
