| | There is an article on this particular deer and the hunter in the May
1992 issue of Outdoor Life. It also has an article about the Jordan
Buck also. There is a story in itself there, Jordan didn't know if his
buck became the record as he died before they could tell him, the panel
recognized it in December 1978. James Jordan died at age 86 in October
    1978.

| | If you read closely, you'll see that the guy who scored it says that
the scoring of the rack is subject to a lot of interpretation, and
when officially scored by a panel, it could score anywhere from
188 to 211 points. (Which is a _lot_ of variation.)

| | The problem is in the g4-5 pts looks like a fork but by looking at
the grain of the antler, the scorer confidently concluded that they
    separate points that grew together.

| | Why won't it get scored officially until 1995? They have that much of a
backlog? :-)

| | When the guy shot the buck, he had to wait a mandatory 60 day
drying period to be scored officially to allow for possible
shrinkage. The Boone and Crocket club only has 1 panel every 3
years. They had one in January this year and the hunter shot
the deer on I think Nov. 16. And after the 60 day wait, he missed
the last induction ceremony by about a week. Bummer. So if someone
shoots a bigger deer before the next panel comes around, it will
never be officially recognized as a world record. Chances are pretty
good that it will hold up until '95. But you never know the way the big
bucks are going down lately. Especially in Alberta, where this giant
was taken. Hope this is clear enough.
