1163.1HUNTER SAFTY TRAINING IN NEW YORK???UNYEM::RIEGLEDCustomer Service, Ithaca, NYTue Jun 02 1992 19:4110
Does anyone have any information on hunter safty courses in New York?
I would like to get my wife into one this summer. She has no intrest
in hunting, but I think she should at least know how to handle some of
the firearms in the house for her own safty (and mine).

I live in Ithaca, NY. Anything within an hour's drive would be fine.

    Thanks in advance,

    Dale

You should contact your local Department of natural resources for
    schedules.

I know that here in Georgia, they have a whole bunch of hunter safety
classes prior to deer season. The state seems to be selling more
licenses, and we have fewer accidents each year. Seems to work. The
only accidents that seem to happen, are due to ignorance. You can
educate, but you can't teach common sense.

re.1 Try contacting your local Game Department office - they probably
give these courses in the early fall. Or contact your area shooting
clubs. Many offer NRA-sanctioned courses on basic marksmanship and
    safe firearms handling.
