1137.0. "7 mm magnum note" by CSC32::J_HENSON (Blessed are the cheese makers) Thu Feb 06 1992 09:55

Does anyone have any pet loads for 7 mm. magnum that they would like
to share? Any other comments regarding this caliber would also be
appreciated.

Thanks,

Jerry

Boy....not much action on this note! ;^) Anyway, I just picked up a left-
handed Remington BDL in 7mm magnum. It was an offer I "couldn't refuse".
What would be a reasonable cartridge for deer sized game? I'll probably
shoot factory first, then as I become more familiar with the load I'll
probably reload.

Seems like the 140 gr. loads are pretty popular in factory ammo. For deer
sized game, I can't see why you would need anything more. There's also
160 gr. loads available if you like a heavier bullet.

If you're into reloading, you have more options. I use 175 gr. Speer Grand
Slams for Elk and Mule Deer, and 139 gr. Hornady BTSPs for Antelope. I
think you can also get 120 gr. bullets, but that seems a bit light to
me.

Of course, your mileage may vary.
