1133.1 | From F&G or Big Bucks club? | SKIVT::WENER | Mon Feb 03 1992 08:48 | 10
Mike, Where does this information come from, checking stations or entries in the Maine Big Buck club?? Just curious, I know someone who shot a big buck in Maine last fall that should've been on this list... Unless of course the weight was inflated or he didn't register it with the club. Thanks, Rob

The numbers came from February's copy of "The Maine Sportsman". It has a page of pictures of the top ten and about 4 pages with all 200 lb. plus deer listed with names, weight, where shot and date. I would assume that the data comes from the Big Buck Club. We were lucky enough to have three of them here at ASO. The list is in aphabetical order.

In order to make the "Big Buck List" in the Maine Sportsman, whomever shoots the deer, is responsible for filling out an application for entry, most checking stations provide these. The next step is to have 2 witnesses sign, and then mail the application directly to Maine Sportsman. The Maine Fish and Game has NOTHING to do with getting people entered, as this is not their "list". Neal Wynne learned this after the fact, when his buck was not registered this year, due to not really understanding the process. The good news is his application has since been sent, and he should still receive a patch. Barry |
