1018.0. "Blaze Camo ?" by HOTWTR::MURPHYRO () Tue Aug 27 1991 18:42

    I'm looking for a vendor of fleece/soft pile blaze camo material.
    Wa. state has a blaze requirement for the first time this year. Rather
    than buy a plastc/nylon vest ( noisy ) I wish to obtain some quiet
    material and make a vest to go with the camo I have.

    Better yet, what about polypro camo clothing in blaze.

    Any Ideas?

    Thanks

    I have made my own out of several types of cloth. Check out you local
    fabric store. I've seen all kinds of blaze orange material available.

    I rally don't know any of the names of the material. I'm a REAL lousy
    sew'r...And speller. But there is real nice material, that also meets
    the requirement of being QUIT.

1018.2And they're close to your neck of the woods ...SPUDDS::MCKENZIEObserve the masses,do the opposite.Wed Aug 28 1991 08:2036
You might try these guys. I would imagine they have fabrics in all types
of camo patterns including blaze camo. I've been meaning to give them a
call but haven't gotten around to it.

              -< source for Goretex and other "outdoor" fabrics >-
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just came across a source for Gore-tex and other outdoor fabrics that you
all may be interested in. The place is called Outdoor Wilderness Fabrics
and they have just about any kind of "outdoor" fabric you can think of:
Nylon Ballistics, Cordura, pack cloth, rip stop, tafetta (all urethane
coated or non-coated), Gore-tex, Ultrex, Supplex, Polartec (Polar Plus etc),
Thermax, Polarguard, Qualifill, Hollifill, Thinsulate, netting, zippers,
fastex hardware, etc.

They will send you a price list and samples of specific kinds of material on
request (free). I asked for their Gore-tex & Ultrex samples and got a nice
little 1 by 2 inch stack of materials in all their colors (about 25
samples). You can get samples of all availible fabrics for $4 (that's got
to be a LOT of swatches). I have not ordered from them (yet).

For example, price for Gore-tex runs between $17.65 and $24.43/yd depending
on color, width, etc. Ultrex is between $9.64 and $5.16/yd. They also have
discounts for wholesale orders ( > 15yds.)

1018.3Check your state regs. firstHYEND::POPIENIUCKWed Aug 28 1991 08:556
    Be sure your state regs. allow you to use blaze camo. Not all states
    allow the camo pattern and require solid blaze. For example, Maine I
    believe only allows/requires solid.

1018.5Saw a blaze camo vest in SeattleDECWET::HELSELLegitimate sporting purposeSun Sep 01 1991 19:4113
    Well, I don't know how committed you are to making your own, but I saw
    what I think is exactly what you had in mind if I understand you
    correctly. What part of WA do you live in?

    I was in ther Outdoor Emporium on Thursday and saw blaze camo vests.
    They are made from a polar fleece-like material. I have a jacket made
    from the same stuff and it couldn't be quieter. I think the price
    on the vest was either $19 or $29. It seemed reasonable for the vest.

    The Outdoor Emporium is in Seattle and I think it's on the corner of
    Republican and Pontius, which is right near the I-5 Denny Exit.

    the Outdoor Emporium. Sounds like what I'm looking for.

    Thanks
