1014.0. "O/U Shotguns from USA" by MAJORS::REVELL (Tactile Warhead) Wed Aug 21 1991 13:19

Hi,

I live in the UK and would like to know :-

	1.	Is it possible for me to import a shotgun from the
		USA to the UK ?

	2.	What sort of money are we talking for a good Skeet gun ?

I realise I'll need a Shotgun Cert. over here. I'm just interested to know
if there are any customs problems etc.

Thanks in advance.

Gary.

Ps.
Could someone tell me what is used in the powder inside a shotgun cartridge ?
I know the primer's use HgN, but I'm interested in the chemical content of
the main charge.

1014.1Could you name some ?MAJORS::REVELLTactile WarheadWed Aug 21 1991 13:4013

Hi,

Who do you consider as the best ? Over here we're led to believe that Browning
are the guns to have. Similarly, Remington and Winchester are popular and
PRICEY too :-(.

Any info' greatly appreciated.

    Just a quick question.

    Why would you want a U.S. made O/U when the best in the world are made
    on your side of the pond??

    Example: U.K., Italy, Spain, Germany, Belgium.... just to mention a
    few.

    Some of the best I consider are:(don't mind the spelling)
    Pirazzi,Beretta....I can't believe the English Company just slipped my
    mind! It's Bell & Howle or something like that.

    Good try Jeff but Griffen and Howe were/are custom rifle builders in
    the U.S. One was a expert metal, the other a stockmaker.

Hi Rick,

Thanks. I heard of H & H and their guns are way out of my price range.

What I'm really after is a "good" Browning, much coveted over here.

Cheers.

    Gary,

    I just called Browing in Utah and spoke with the international
    marketing manager. He said that Browning Utah has a license to sell
    Browings in the USA and Canada from the owners that reside in Belgiam.

    He also stated;

    All dealers and distributors are NOT allowed to ship guns out of the
    U.S.A. or Canada to your side of the pond.

    If you would like information on Browning products or to purchase them
    the following is a contact for you.

    Though he does not have a phone number he does have a fax#. Said he
    only contacts them through a fax, anyway here's what he told me you
    should do.

    BROWNING S.A. SALES DEPT.
    HERSTAL, BELGIUM

    FAX# 3241-481-490 ATTENTION Mr. James Herla

    I'd ask where you could buy from a local channel?

    Well Good-Luck!!!!
