934.0. "New, exotic species????" by CSC32::J_HENSON (It's just the same, only different) Fri Mar 29 1991 16:40
As those of you who have recently made trips to the local super-market
probably know, it appears that we now have a new exotic game species.
It is the "lepidopterus humongous", or more commonly knows as a
Big Damned Grasshopper (BDG for short). I must admit that I'm not
really up to date on this new species, but I did see the picture
and headlines on one of the weekly tabloids.
The headline stated that some farmer had killed a 23 lb. grasshoper.
The picture was of a man, dressed in overalls, holding a huge
grasshopper in one hand and a rifle in the other. For what it's
worth, the rifle appeared to be a lever-action 30/30. The grasshopper
just appeared to be huge.
So, it seems reasonable that we should start a new note on hunting
this new species. We can discuss the appropriate firearms requirement,
hunting techniques, etc. We might even want to have a recipe section.
So, whadda ya' think? Is a 30/30 too much for Grasshoppers?
Jerry
P.S. Wonder how the drumsticks taste?
