| Mike,
actually i was thinking of using it on Coyotes for target practice ;^)
BTW, i just finished stoning it yesterday, dropped it off at my
neighbors, and told him i was sick of stoning it... and that I didn't
want to see it again till it was finished ;^) He's gonna polish it up
and send it out to have a barrel put on it...
Oh well, maybe it's an omen, could it be Mark that your appications are
unlucky ;^) Is that why you give them away?!

| Applications must be in by April 30.
You can get applications at all Maine sporting goods stores,
many variety stores, or at the DIFW in Augusta. I'm not sure
if the DIFW will mail you one. The advertisement says they
are available at the DIFW office in Augusta.
The drawing date has not been determined yet. I think it is
usually in June...
Fees are:
Non-Resident Application $ 10.00
" " " Permit $ 200.00
" " " License $ 77.00
You have to ask yourself is it really worth it .
Possession of a valid hunting license is not required to apply for a
permit.

| RE. -1
Is it really worth it? As a recipient of one of last year's permits
for non-residents and as a successful moose hunter (800# bull), the
answer is absolutley YES!!!!! My brother went with me as the
sub-permittee and even he said it was his best hunting trip ever!
You're right in that you better have a few dollars to handle the trip
though. With all those fees and then having the moose processed, gas
money, guide or lodge (we used neither and slept in a tent), you'd
better plan on spending at least $1,000.
I was distressed by one of the survey questions mailed to all of last
year's permit holders. The question was asked if permits should be
issued to the highest bidders instead of the lottery system that now
exists. God, I hope not.
I'm not eligble for a permit this year or next, but good old baby
brother promised to take me if he should get his permit this year!

| I've got a booklet with the 1991 non-resident permit application in it
and will send it to the first person to send me mail on
HYEND::POPIENIUCK. I'm not eligible this year or next thanks to having
gotten a permit and moose last year. By the time my freezer empties
I'll be eligible again.

I'm looking for info on when and where to get a moose application

they are published. Being that New Jersey is not by any Maine sporting
good stores I'm looking for a contact from up that direction who can
help me out.
