    The 3rd annual N.H. moose hunt ended with hunters taking 53,
    representing a 70% success rate for the 75 permit holders.
    
    The final tally consisted of 42 bulls and 11 cows. The largest bull
    weighed 930lbs, field dressed, which tied the record for the heaviest
    bull taken in the state's modern day hunt.
    
    Charles Covey of North Stratford, N.H. shot the big bull on OCT. 16th,
    the opener. Though he was only 1 mile from the road it took him 11
    hours to drag it out.

    Black-Bear:
    
    In an up-date of N.H. bear season, hunters had taken 221 as of
    OCT.19th.
    Of these, 108 were killedover bait, 53 by hunters using dogs and 60 by
    hunters not using either.

	If I remember right, to get the tag you need to: 1) get your name drawn 2) go to a class or 2 about moose and what you need to do after you get it, they require you to bring in some parts of some organs If the anti's are willing to go through this process then they have every right to try. --Bob

	Reprinted without permission. Chatham, N.H. - The biggest black bear ever killed in New Hampshire was bagged with bow and arrow by a tourist from Indiana. Jack Smith of Bicknell, Ind., shot the 493-pound bear last weekend in Chatham, located just north of Conway, along the Maine border. Smith shot the bear after it had climbed a tree. Richard Patch, the Carroll County fish and game commissioner, said the bear eclipsed the previous state record of 475 pounds. "They called me from Chatham asking if I had a big scale because they knew they had a big bear and they even wondered if it might be a record bear," he said. "It took took five of us to lift the bear out of the pickup and place it on the scales. It was a big sucker."
