817.1 | Nice deer, But? | WFOV11::DRUMM | | Wed Oct 24 1990 09:03 | 7 |
| Guy,
Tis a nice deer indeed, but a small nit me thinks. Recheck the
paper. The min score to enter the Pope & Young book is 125 for
white tailed deer. Did the paper make a small error?

Guy - In your reply you stated the previous record was 123, 125 being
the minimum.

| Bob,
Your right 140 scores the book but the note says the old record in
the book was 123 a bit below the min. I guess I can be as foggy a
writer as the paper.

The note is as published in the paper. As far a score of 123, that
could be a real possibility, the state maybe listing it by the scoring
method of Pope and Young measurments for their own records. The town
of harvest was not listed (not surprising) but i'm sure, one of you fellow
noters in Vermont can find out more facts due to the "home" state
advantage.

The deer was taken in Sandgate. The guy who shot it worked at
Mt. Equinox in Manchester. Sandgate is the town just to the west of
Manchester. Also, you are correct about the previous VT record being
123 Points. The measurements were based on the P&Y (B&C, everything
else), but I can't see how that particular deer would have made it in
the P&Y record book. The minimum score is 125 as someone else has
suggested. We have to assume it wasn't listed in P&Y, but was
recognized as the highest scoring rack taken by bow in VT. I wouldn't
mind shooting a "123" :')
good luck, Rob
