| I'm from Iowa, but have been in Colorado for the past 12 years.
I was raised in the NorthWest corner of the state and the bird hunting is
great. Just tell them Jim sent you (just kidding). Hungarian partridge
have really come on strong the past few years, so get ready for some
FAST action.
Ask for permission and don't forget to offer a bird or two when
you get into a mess of them, most farmers really appreciate it.
If you can get ingo some of the state owned land the action can be
good, but the cover is usually jungle-like.
Good luck, and let us know how you do.

| Hi,
I grew up in the central part of the state; my brother and I (and my
Lab) usually make it back for the first few days of the season opener.
We hunt with local farmers we knew growing up there, which works out
real well, since they keep track of the birds while tending the crops.
My strategy for a good hunt if I didn't know anyone would be to pull
into a small town about midafternoon, hit the local pool hall, and
become close personal friends with the locals by last call.
Out-of-state 3-day licenses the past couple years have been around 50$.
Opening Day is usually the last Saturday in October or first Saturday
in November.
Good luck, and try not to shoot any "Super Quail" (local slang for hen
pheasants)!

Hi,
My name is Jon Aller, I live in Kansas City MO but I was born and
raised in Iowa. I grew up on a farm in the southeast part of the
state, and I can tell you that there are plenty of birds. I will be
buying an out of state small game licence this year to hunt on my
fathers farm. The cost is ~ $55.00 to hunt all small game except ducks
and geese. Since most of the farmers are participating in the land set
a side program, there has been quite an increase in game population.
Most notably in the quail population.
Most of the farmers are usually good about letting you on their land if
you ask. Remember to close any gates that you open and offer a portion
of your take.
I would be interested to hear how you did, and where you hunted.
good luck!!!!
