    Rob,

Any news yet on what the deal is with 2nd tags for successful
    bowhunters?

Hows things up your way? I was in Woodstock this past weekend pouring
footings with the farmer for a new deck were gonna put on for him...
saw a couple of deer in the fields in the morning. Heading up there
on the 16th to start the deck. and hopefully put in a couple of
    treestands.

668.5Not sure on DetailsSKIVT::WENERThu Jun 07 1990 13:0924

    	Hi Fra,

Things up here are going well, doing a lot of trout fishing this
spring and starting to think seriously about this fall. I've seen
several deer on my way into work in the mornings which keeps my mind
drifting... As for the bow tags, the way I understood it, if it is
deemed necessary to take antlerless deer, then extra bow-tags for
an antlerless-only deer will be issued in specific DMU's only. I'm not
sure if anything has changed about this strategy, or if you still have
to send in for them/pick them up at the local town clerk... If I hear
more about it, I'll post the info here. It was passed by the
Legislature, and also passed was a law which states that when
antlerless seasons are held, they will be held outside the regular
deer season!!! Like maybe a two-three day season after the regular
firearms season. They also are going to issue permits to
Muzzlehunters! Not sure how it will all work out, please correct me,
anyone, if I'm in err on any of these points.

Good luck with the deck, I'm sure the farmer greatly appreciates the
    help!

Archery starts the first Monday of November, the fifth, and runs
through the 24th. Shotgun starts the 26th and runs through December
    5th. Muzzleloader is December 17-19.

No hunting on Sundays, same as ever.

I'm taking opening day of bow, and the second week. 4 days with
the rifle in Vermont, then back to Mass. for the peak of the rut
    with the bow.

Can any of you good old boys from VT help me with antlerless hunting
rules this year in Vermont. I'm getting conflicting stories/articles
regarding what you can and can't do this year.

(i.e. additional archery tag for successful bowhunters? doe permits
for muzzloaders, non resident status etc...) whats the real word?
    Rob? Dave? Kevin? Bruce? anyone???

    thanks in advance, Fra

As i understand it these are all proposals but none of them have been
inacted yet. As of now the seasons are the same as they were last year.
Two deer limit for the year, no doe permits for the rifle season, and
bucks only during mussleloader season. If this isn't right some of the
other guys will correct me (-:).

Ah come on Bruce, don't you know what you're talking about :')
That's true... No antlerless hunting this year in VT!! At all!!
No extra bowtags, no permits for muzzlehunters, no firearms permits.
You can, however, still take an antlerless deer with your bow (1).
The moratorium on antlerless hunting in VT continues...

hope this helps you Fra (and you too Bruce)

Just kidding bruce, I'll see you at lunch - Rob

BTW, that's "muzzleloader" Not mussleloader, like Musclecar :')
