Massachusetts Sportsman, Thank you for your interest in Ma.
white-tail deer hunting. I apologize for the delay in responding
to your request for information on the 1989 season. Because of a
severs shortage of secretarial and clerical staff, we could not
complete the entry of data, verification, and analysis of the deer
harvest data until early May. First, the season total was the highest
on record. In fact, the total broke the previous record of 1986
by 1,096 deer (a 20 percent increase).not only is the deer herd
growing in terms of numbers and distribution, the health of the
herd appears to remain excellent.
