Christine,
Welcome to hunting and congrads on wanting to share your husband's
interests. My wife hunts antelope with me and has gotten one each of
the two times I've taken her. She has hunted deer and elk but does not
care for the cold we have that time of year. To give you an idea of
just license costs in Colo, non-res deer 120.00, elk 210.00, and
antelope 120.00. These are lasts years fees, I know they are going
up again. Your other expenses would be your food and gas to get here
and while hunting. Depending on how you prefer to camp will determine
that expense. Good luck to you.

| Welcome Christine,
I saw your note in the cooking notes file. Look under note
316 for some ideas on cooking game. I tried to send you mail directly
but couldn't connect to node GUCCI for some reason.
My only comment on cooking venison is not to over cook it. It dries
out too much (shoe leather, Yuck).
Have fun,
John

| Christine,
I've been hunting and fishing for years, now bring six-year-old twin
boys fishing with me. Welcome to the sport.
My husband used to fish more but he enjoys hunting the best. We go
together, but in the woods each go our own way; just inform the other
where we'll be.
If we're fortunate enough to have our sons with us or one of the
daughters who likes sports we each have a companion to walk with. These
are precious times for us; whether we come away empty-handed or with
something to cook makes no difference.
You won't be sorry that you chose to find out the fun in doing what
he likes to do rather than stay home and wait.

| Nancy -
You're right, staying at home is nooooooo fun at all. It's definatly
better than staying home and sulking and getting angry that he's
not home. Granted, sometimes I do stay home to get housework and
stuff done, somebody's got to do it :( Recently my husband is taking
up fishing as well, but hunting is his first love.
Thanks for the input. I'll be talking to ya.
