478.20How they decide how many numbers?IOENG::TESTAGROSSAdtn 297-7581Mon Oct 02 1989 15:319
    Are the numbers different for non-resident than resident? I didn't
    think that they were.

    Also, could you give a description of how this works? Are non-residents
    with the number guarenteed a permit?

    Any light you could shed would help. Thanks !

478.21The process !!!DNEAST::STEVENS_JIMMon Oct 02 1989 16:5842

    IN order to recieve an any deer permit;

    	1) Have a valid hunting license

    	2) Fill out an any-deer permit application. No Fee required.

    		- The last two number on your license is what determines
    		  the selection.

    		- You must select a district. ONLY ONE PERMIT APPLICATION
    		  PER PERSON...If you send in more than one, they eliminate
    		  all your applications.

    		- The permit application needed to be in by August 15.

    	3) On September 19 (I think it was), numbers were selected from
    	   all the applications by district. As an example, District 7
    	   was allowed 7,000 any deer permits. They picked numbers from
    	   a barrel, which had numbers from 00-99, at random, keeping
    	   track of how many people with a specific number had applied
    	   for that district. Once all 7,000 permits were issued, they
    	   stopped that district and went to the next. The numbers were
    	   on ping pong balls in a barrel. They had a computer to tally
    	   the applications.

    	4) On October 5, I think, they will send the permit to each
    	   recipient

    Non-resident is done the same, except there are fewer permits alloted
    to them.
