458.0. "Massachusetts Waterfowl Season (dates)" by WILLEE::MANLEY () Tue Sep 05 1989 11:41

    I didn't see a note in here for the Massachusetts water fowl
    seasons so here it goes:

    1989 season:
    ------------
    Central region:
                   First Part of Season:
                   _____________________
                   October 16th through October 28th

                   Second Part of Season:
                   ----------------------
                   December 9th through December 25th

    This is the only info the guy at Acton Fish and Games had. He didn't
    have bag limits and/or the other regions (as of 9/5/89). If somebody
    else gets the rest of the info, please let us know.

    See you in the swamp(s).

    Tom,

    P.S. Anybody know if the price of Federal duck stamps went up? There
         was talk last year of $10.

458.2Shooting Hours???DELNI::G_FISHERWed Sep 13 1989 13:227
    can anyone confirm the shooting hours. I've heard they've given us back
    the half hour before sunrise...

    Thanks,

    Guy,

    The abstracts tat i picked up at the field house says:

    HUNTING HOURS - 1/2 hour before sunrise to sunset.

    So it looks as though they kept thier word.

458.6Anybody Trying Saturday AM?WILLEE::MANLEYTue Dec 05 1989 09:1710
    Sooooo, Central Massachusetts Waterfowlers, anybody going to give
    it a try Saturday (12/9/89) morning? I've hunted some pretty harsh
    conditions before but its starting to look like Siberia time in
    the swamps. Also according to Bruce Schwegler(sp) on channel 4,
    we're suppose to get another north-easter Friday night and Saturday
    morning, but then again Bruce isn't always the most accurate ;^}.
    I'd hate to think that all thats left of the 89 waterfowl season
    is the stories from October.

    Yep, I'll be out there gunning away at the geese. Went by my favorite
    field yesterday and there were about 150 birds feeding. Can't wait,
    the only downside is punching all those holes in the ground so you
    can set up the dekes. Should be bakc home by 8:30 - 9:00 with our
    limits 8*).

458.11Open??PAXVAX::COTHRANFri Dec 08 1989 15:1513
    In .9 I reported that the river was open.  Well....open is relative;
    right? There are spots where it's open, and spots where I think
    it's open. Then there are spots where

    I checked it out more closely at noon today. My partner and I have
    about a 100yd walk on ice before we hit what looks like "open" water.
    I've no idea what we'll find after we round the bend. But, the blind
    is just a short distance up river from where we put in anyway. So a
    20 min walk along the frozen banks, vs a 10 minute paddle won't be bad.

    	Bryan

    It'll be fun regardless, to get back out
458.12Anyone have any luck?DELNI::G_FISHERMon Dec 11 1989 09:357
    Well????

    How did you make out? I nailed a nice drake mallard this morning before
    work? Still lots of geese around too.

    PS - My 7 year old daughter has been asking me if she can go hunting
         with Daddy and Uncle Buck this year....I'm still wearing the
         proud smile 8^). Maybe I'll get to pass on the tradition..........
         If she likes it, I'll need some suggestions on outlets for
         small camies/waders. Does this mean "NO MORE LOCKER-ROOM TALK
         IN THE SWAMP"?
