418.0. "Winchester Auction" by MAIL::HENSON () Fri Jul 21 1989 15:09

This is a note which should be in the Firearms conference.
Unfortunately, I can't get into that conference right now because
of a network problem. So, rather than forget to put the note
in, I'll put it here. Maybe someone who knows how will move it
    later.

The good news is that there is going to be one super gun auction
soon. The bad news is that it is going to be held in Larned,
Ks. So, unless you are a diehard Winchester collector, you
probably won't be interested. However, if any of you out there
are willing to spend the bucks, here's what's happening.

On Sunday, August 6, in Larned, Kansas, over 200 guns will be
auctioned. Most of these came from one collector. I saw about
60 of the guns yesterday and was impressed. The collection includes,
but is not limited to, the following.

    		Winchester 1866s
    		Winchester 1873s
    		Winchester 1876s
    		Winchester 1886s
    		Winchester 1892s
Winchester 1894 (pre-64, rifles, carbines and commemoratives)
                Winchester 71s
    		Winchester 53s
    		Winchester 55s
    		Sharps Model 1852 .50 cal
    		Winchester shotguns (m12,m42,m24 and others)
    		Colt cap and ball pistols
    		and more

If you are interested in more information, put a response here.
I can provide you with the phone number of the auctioneers.
They should be able to give you more detailed information.
There are also Gus Shaefer statues (statuettes).

Larned is about 120 miles NW of Wichita, and about 300 miles
west of Kansas City. It's a long ways to come for you guys
back east, but it might be worth it. For the Colorado Springs
bunch, it's not all that far.
