275.0. "Bird hunting, where?" by AKOV75::WARREN () Fri Nov 11 1988 09:04

    I live in Haverhill and am looking for a place close to
    Haverhill or near Haverhill to hunt pheasant. Are there
    any such places avaiable. This is HAverhill, Mass.

    There is a WMA not far from you in Groveland. Can't help
    with the directions though.

    Burns WMA in Newbury can't be too far either. I've only been once
    and could not be sure of the right directions.

275.3A couple places in HaverhilVICKI::DODIERThu Nov 17 1988 08:3218
    	There is a place I used to hunt but don't remember the street
    name. To get there go up Hiledale and past the Haverhill High school.
    At the 4-way intersection just past the H.S. take a right. Go about
    2 miles down. The first house on the left after you pass the road
    on the right used to be owned by Mr. Willett (also was/is? the dog
    officer). He used to own this land (don't know if he still does)
    and doesn't mind people hunting it. I'd stop in and ask anyway so
    he (or the new owner) knows your down there.

    	I haven't hunted this in years but if it hasen't changed much
    then after cutting through the first field there is a small apple
    orchard. I've taken pheasants there and further down into the piece.
    Way in back is a swampy area that sometimes hold ducks also.

    	Good luck.................RAYJ

    P.S. In back of Whittier Tech and around the Jewish Cemetary used
    to be good also.
