251.0. "1988/DON'T FORGET TO VOTE!!!" by PLATA::BILLINGSLEA (Mark \ DIS/SD/PSU \ DTN:522-5317) Fri Oct 14 1988 11:17

If you are going to be hunting on November 8th, 1988 be sure and get an
absentee ballot. Here's what I did to apply for mine.

Either go down to your local government office (county registrar, city
registrar, or whatever) and fill out an application requesting an
    absentee ballot.

    .OR.

Look around at your local shopping mall or grocery store for a voter
registration table. If there is one, they will usually have the
application form. Fill it out there or mail it in and then you'll be
sent an absentee ballot in the mail.

    I did this yesterday.

When you do vote, considure the records of the two candidates.

One of them is a Life member of the NRA, while the other has publically
stated that he opposes the private ownership of firearms.

One of them is a sportsmen, while the other recently raided the
Fish and Game dept of it's funds in order to try and balance his
    budget for political self gain.

One of them is supported by the majority of police unions, while
the other lets convicted killers out on weekend passes.

    The choice should be clear.

    Jeff,

May I play the devil's advocate? ;-) This is too important to be
    subtle.

    Mark,
Your absolutely right, this is not the time to be subtle.

-George Bush is a Life member of the NRA.

-Mike Dukakis has stated that he sees no reason why a private citizen
should be allowed to own a firearm.

-George Bush is a hunter and fisherman

-Dukakis raided the state of Ma. Fish and Game budget in order to
try and balance the budget. He has also tried to undermine the
control of the F&G dept by shifting control from the game biologists
to a "citizens comittee" (ie: anti's) In raiding the budget he
apropriated the states Pittman-Robertson funds and license fees.

-George Bush favors the death penalty and mandatory sentencing for
     crooks.

-Dukakis has given weekend passes to killers who are supposedly
in prison with no chance of parole.

I think this months cover of the NRA published AMERICAN HUNTER magazine
said it pretty clearly. The cover is plain black with this quote:

"I do not believe in people owning guns, only police and military.
I am going to do everything I can to disarm this state."

251.5Long live BB's!!GLDOA::MORRISONSat Oct 22 1988 19:4310
I feel sorry for all you folks in MA with your "fun lovin'" Gov
and his pro vegitarian platform. (To be a vegtable as well as only
eat them) and sure hope he doesn't get any further. I know I'll
do my part in pulling the right lever on the 8th. Glad I found out
about BB's too! Hope I don't forget do take them out of my pockets
when I come out to Mass on DEC business. I can just see calling
my wife and telling her I got busted for having 5 BB's in my pocket!!
Seriously though, don't forget that vote and tell your friends!
If a candidate wants to eliminate the 2nd amendment can anything
    be safe??? NO!!

Also on Nov 8th, don't forget that not only are we electing a president but
also the entire House of Representatives is up for re-election and 1/3 of
the Senate. Remember to investigate your representative and senators with
the same dilligence as you have the presidential candidates.
