245.1First Time Doe PermitBARTLE::STEVEVANWed Oct 19 1988 16:0512

    	I got my DOE PERMIT this year....

    	First one too... I've applied for one every year and no luck,
    	well this could be my lucky year after all....But you know how
    	it goes, just my dumb luck that I won't see a single doe...

    	I'll be in zone #4

    	Good Hunting to all.
    	Steve

245.2 I hate when that happens...TRAKEN::LEFEBVREI never met a deer I didn't likeWed Oct 19 1988 16:244
    One thing I hate about having a doe permit is having to pass up
    all those shots at nice bucks while waiting for a doe.

    re -1

    That's what I always worry about. As soon as I get a doe tag
    I'll see that BIG buck I've been waiting for. I get buck/bull
    tags for that reason.

    If I ever connect with a wall hanger, I'll be out the next year
    chasing females.

    First I got to get that big one though.

    happy hunting... mark

    re.3 I think .2 was kidding. In Mass. if you have a doe permit you
    can shoot either sex. For instance: If you see your monster buck
    opening day and bag it, you would tag it and bring it to a check
    station where they will provide you with another tag. Your done hunting
    for the day. Now on the following day you can still shoot either sex
    because you haven't used your doe permit yet. In Mass you can shoot two
    antlered deer. If you have a doe permit, one of the deer can be a doe.
    BTW, this is for shotgun only. during archery and primitive firearms
    you can shoot two bucks, or a buck and a doe. If you shoot a doe
    during the archery season your doe tag for shotgun has no use since you
    have shot one doe for the season. Your bag for the year cannot exceed
    two deer, and not more than one can be a doe, and not more than one
    deer per day. I received my doe permit yesterday for zone 8, but I will
    be doing archery this year for time. So I may not need the permit if
    things go well.
