213.0. "HUNTING, FISHING, AND OUTDOOR GEAR" by PLATA::BILLINGSLEA (Swing easy...) Fri Sep 09 1988 10:38

I did a quick look through the directory and didn't see anything
specific to this, so I'll start one.

Are there any local outlet/warehouse stores for hunting gear?
I get most of these catalogues (once you get on the mailing
list you get 'em all), but feel that the stuff is kind of high
    	priced.

O.K. heres an endorsement for Cabela's. I bought a pair of hunting
boots about 1.5 yrs ago. Somehow they ended up with a split in
the leather. I don't know if I did it or if it was a defect. I
returned them two weeks ago with a letter explaining the problem.
They just called me and said they were sending me a new pair, no
questions asked. I'm impressed. I will definitely continue to
    do buisness with them.

I just sent a pair of Rocky Mountain Stalkers...gore-tex, thinsulate
all that jazz back to Cabela's yesterday, the right boot was leaking.
When I called them they said they would most likely send me a new
pair of boots, I was impressed, will be waiting for my new pair.
They are about 11 mos. old. I have been extremely satisfied over
the years with their service, and prices seem to be really good.

213.6How about one for LLRT101::WAINRIGHTKWSat Sep 10 1988 20:439
I have to put in a word for LL BEAN...

I had a pair of 18 year old insulated hunting shoes and the
leather finally split in the back. They took them back
and sent me a brand new pair...

	I was amazed...no hassles...no questions...
Of course I feel obligated now...

I get most of my gear from Cabela's and Gander Mountain. Prices,
selection, and service have been equally good from both.
