Although I no longer use a .243 for anything, I had worked up a
    very good load for it.

My load was 87 grain Hornady spire point with 43.5 grains of IMR
4350 powder started with cci-200 primers.

This was the only load I ever got to perform well in the remingtom
mod. 788 I was using. But I can honestly say that I never shot a
deer with it that I lost. In fact I only had to track one, the rest
    fell where shot.

I have been using a .25-06 for about 10 years now and love it.

      When I had a 243 I used 42 grains of (Dupont) IMR4831 and a CCI
large rifle primer behind the Nosler 95 grain spire point. I took
one deer with it and it dropped dead in it's tracks. The destruction
that the little 95 grain bullet did was "beyond belief"!

If you use a 243 for deer, and you handload, use a Nosler! They
are the best (in my humble opinion)....
