91.0. "BIG FOOT SEEN IN N.H." by NEBVAX::PAPPALARDO () Wed Dec 02 1987 11:43
BIGFOOT IN NEW HAMPSHIRE! Yes thats what I said,Bigfoot known as
Sasquatch has been seen in Salisbury,N.H. here's the colum that
appeared in the newspaper on 11/1/87.
WHATS 9 FEET TALL,HAS 18 INCH FEET AND LIVES IN CENTRAL N.H.
You couldnt blame walter bowers sr. for shying away from anymore
talk about the thing he saw out in the woods a few weeks ago.after
all,once the tale got around about him spotting a hairy,9 foot tall
gorilla like creature in a field in salisbury, n.h. one morning
there has been no end of aggravation for him.BIGFOOT? in central
n.h.? most people have just laughed and said they do not belive
him.even a neighbor in his town of webster, a women who declined
to give her name,said,'he probably just saw a bear in the distance
standing up'.the hunters that gather at the cross roads country
store in salisbury have gotten countless yuks out of the story.
But what a story! a new hampshire hunter,out looking for pheastant
near mill brook in salisbury early one morning,turns and espies
a towering,apelike form covered with gray hair and standind on its
hind legs.a form like that of bigfoot,the legendary creature the
indians called sasquatch.you couldn't blame a person for doubting.and
you can't blame bowers for getting publicity shy once the story
hit the newspapers.It's big thats all i can tell you,is all he says
at this point.But not everyone is as skeptical as bowers seems to
fear.bill wagner jr. a photographer and retired manchester police
officer with an interest in bigfoot sightings,says he accompanied
bowers last friday to the site where the creature was seen.The two
of them found some large footprints in the grass,he says,and i mean
about 18 inches.wagner definitely takes bowers seriously.here;s
a man who has been hunting all his life and who has nothing to gain
from fabricating something like this,he says.in fact,he has a lot
to lose.very few people come foward because of the fear of ridicule.
adds wagner,who became interested in bigfoot when a friend reported
a sighting.When you speak to someone who has had a legitimate sighting
you know it.in the past 6 years,wagner says he has learned of at
least 4 or 5 bigfoot sightings in new hampshire,all of them in the
tilton,sanbornton,salisbury area within 30 miles of bowers sighting.
thats enough to convince some folks to keep their smirking to
themselves.I don't laugh anymore says mrs.purington at the country
store,i don;t want the thing to come to my house to prove it to
me.

NOTE: IF Bigfoot is true and i say anything is possible,I for one
if I see it while hunting deer Would NOT SHOOT!(i don't think?)but
how would one handle this,would we shoot for it is a wonder of the
world and we would owe it to mankind for study? any thoughts?

91.1 | Opening day??? | MPGS::NEAL | | Wed Dec 02 1987 12:05 | 12 |
| Just looked at my 87 Abstracts and couldnt find any opening day
for BIGFOOT.
I do remember seeing a show on this what ever it is. They interviewed
a hunter who had seen one while deer hunting, but didnt shoot it
because it looked to human. I wonder if they chase deer and kill
them?;-)
BTW, I wouldnt shoot one, nor tell anyone about it if I did see
one.

| If you don't shoot it, you'll wish you had.
If you shoot it, you'll wish you hadn't.

91.3 | Why would you want to shoot it?? | GLIVET::HUSTON | | Wed Dec 02 1987 12:22 | 13 |
|
Why would you want to shoot it? If it was any threat to mankind
it would have killed someone by now. It is probably very shy and
will not attack. It also (if it exists) is a rare animal, so why
shoot and make it more rare? Also, if you do shoot, you do not
know how much lead this "animal" can handle so you will not know
if you have enough gun.
I say let it live peacefully, at least until it shows it cannot
coexist with humans, so far it has proved it can, I mean only 5
to 6 sightings ever!

91.5 | Why not? | DECWET::HELSEL | | Wed Dec 02 1987 17:06 | 19 |
| Heck, after reading how these people are going to shoot a lone dog
that doesn't have a chance in hell of running down a deer (except
the vicous greyhound), why not shoot big foot.
If you shoot it, at least you won't get labeled crazy.
I'd rather have somone shoot big foot than my dog.
Then you can scientifically cut it open and see what it's eating.
If there is another, bait it with whatever is in its stomache.
By the way, how do you know that big foot isn't responsible for
deer herd damage?
Surely this is a good reason to shoot it!
:^)

91.6 | If he is real.. I would like to see it | NETWRK::GSMITH | Double Trouble | Thu Dec 03 1987 08:39 | 8 |
| -1 the dog issue is supposed to be closed... read note 24.93 (i think)..
let's not get into that again...
as for Big Foot..... Bullets don't penetrate his hide.... so you
better be a fast runner in the woods... cause Big Foot was on the
track team when he was in high school :*).....

| The dog issue is closed, and I would like to thank everyone for
there co-operation in doing so. I think we should drop the issue
of shooting bigfoot now before i't gets out of hand. I just don't
want people to read this note and think we would shoot bigfoot just
for the sake of proving it does exist. Thank you in advance for
your co-operation.

91.8 | endangered species. | SCOMAN::BING | | Thu Nov 17 1988 04:26 | 10 |

i was just reading some of the older notes and thought i should
reply to this one. just for the record bigfoot (sasquatch-yeti)
and the loch ness monster have all been put on the endangered
species list. so i would advise anyone who may run into one, not
to shoot. the fed's put them on this list just in case thwey did
exist.
