Hi All, Good to see this notes file getting activity again!! It
must be the cooler weather we had the begining of this week, I know
it's got my blood pumping again.

Just to keep everyone up to date, there will be a meeting to discuss
this years Mass waterfowl dates on August 31st, at the Westboro
field headquarters. Dates, Baglimits ect. will be discussed. It
should be worth attending just to keep the anti's quiet. (last year
several showed and were very vocal.)

So if you plan on hunting ducks this year in Mass please make an
effort to show up and be counted.

Hope to see and meet some of you there.

I just talked to the Fish and Game Headquarters. The meeting is
tonight at 7:00 at the New England Electric Company.

From 495 go west on Rt. 9 (towards Worcester) for about 2-3 miles.
The driveway will be on the left (eastbound side). There will be
a big New England Electric Co. sign.

    See you there...

Thanks for double checking on the location of this meeting, I called
again and it is at New England Electric co in Westboro. Take the
Flanders road exit off of Rt. 9.

I will be attending and would like to take the oportunity to meet
some of you there. This is a good chance for us to get together
and say hello! I don't know the building but how about we meet
in the back of the meeting room at the break?

Please try and attend this meeting if for nothing else but to so
some unity against the ANTI HUNTERS who will most definatly be there.

    Mike, Guy, etc.
I'll definitely be there. I like the idea of meeting in the back
of the hall at the break.

Well, it was interesting. They haven't made any final decisions
yet. Some points of interest that were discussed:

-The Atlantic flyway did pretty well tis year as far as production.

-The rest of the flyways had a very tough year.

-the Feds are asking for a 30 day season.

-Steel shot statewide for all waterfowl.

-Hours will most likely be from sunrise to sunset

    -3 duck limit

    -Geese did real well 8*)

Dates have not yet been set but final decision will be made next
    Wednesday.

    Jeff

Mike kept notes on the proposed dates. The only one that stuck in
my mind was the central opener...October 17th.

The real dates etc. will be announced this week.

It was interesting to hear the anti-hunting contingent that was
    present.

Sorry, I didn't get a chance to enter the PROPOSED dates, but if
there is any interest I'll post them. As Jeff said a couple back
the real dates will be set Tomorrow. I think you can pretty much
count on them matching the poposed dates very closy.

So as not to get caught up in the last minute shuffle, I
picked up my duck stamps today. Along with the stamps, I grabbed
a copy of the 1988 Migratory Bird Regulations. There is an new law
which went into effect this year which will effect canoe hunters.
    It states :
no mention note these three words
                    of cushions | | |
                         | | | |
                         V V V V
"	P.F.D. - (Life jacket or vest) must be worn by anyone in a canoe
                 or kayak Sept. 15 - May 15. "

Interesting, this doesn't say anything about "BOAT". Or if the
PFD must be worn while canoe is under power and/or stationary ?????

Be aware this is a new law for 1988. Not just for hunting, but
for boating in general. And being that it is new, alot of people
    will probably get caught.
In the eyes of the court, "Ignorance is no excuse !!!!"
