1263.0. "Scuff Mark Removal" by ACISS1::GOODMAN () Mon Jul 15 1996 11:10

    Is there an easy way to remove rubber "scuff marks" (from a
    sneaker) on varnished wood, other than sanding and refinishing?

    Bill,

    I have had good luck with liquid detergent (dish soap) and a 'used'
    'green' scrubber like SCOTCH BRITE. I use the Stop and Shop store
    brand.

    By 'used', I mean that I do not use a brand new one because it can be
    quite stiff and may cause some 'hazing' of the finish.. If I only have
    a new one, I use it to scrub the non-skid areas of the cockpit sole or
    decks. These always seem to need a little extra cleaning and doing that
    softens the scrubber to reduce the chance of scratching the varnish.

    As long as it is truly a sneaker scuff mark this should do the trick.

A "Used Green Scrubber" is the ticket !!!! NEVER throw them out!!

I also find a product called "Simple Green" squirted on full strength will
take scuff marks ( and every other kind of mark too) off of anything!

I had a passanger recently wearing those damned "Tire Tread' sandals that left
all sorts of marks on my white decks!!! Simple Green was the only thing that
would take them off!!!

Good Luck and send me all your used green scrubbers !!!!
