USA Marine has both savages in the showroom.
I have not seen them yet, but if all does not go good with my boat... a
new Savage will appear on my doorstop. I had hull problems with my
20' nitro and if they can;t fix it they will be giving me a savage.
What a name. I've often been called a savage for drinking cold-ones
directly out of a bottle and not using a glass.
I know a friend who has already one on order, the 19'6" with the 225
EFI high performance merc. The claim is speeds up to 85mph.
My boat does 70+ and I thought that was fast. Looks like I'll have to
be looking in my rear-view mirror... I would not elect to go with the
225 because the insurance is about triple...

I saw // I liked // I'm working a deal. They are neet boats. Completely
re-manufactured from the ground up. Lots of thought for repairs. The
rear dry storage tubs now come out which give you access to all hoses
valves and pumps for the livewell. All the other pumps are easily
accesable from a panel in the rear. Not as much storage as my 20'
Nitro but, I never used it all anyway. I'm working a deal for the 19'6
with the 200 EFI. Can't wait for spring!

I saw the video test drive. It was down on Lake 'O'. Nice to see what
green looks like again.
The biggest change I could see was they moved the pad in front of transom
and re-designed the chines. This allows the boat to get up and out of the
water real quick. With my 200xp pushing 235hp at the prop,
this boat should easily scream in the 75mph bracket. My previous 20' model
topped out at 70ish. This boat is heaver than its bigger counterpart. With
the new ram-tech hull and weight distribution it looks wild in the water.
I never used to look behind me much, because very few boats would ever
pass me. Although there was a guy in a conoe once... I wonder how it will
pull skiers? I believe that is a silly questions...
I have the 896 SAVAGE 19' 6" model on order. It should be in by the 1st
of April. I've driven high performance boats since I was 15. (in the ocean)
and this boat is the most radical I've seen. It rides soooooo high it looks
like you have to be real careful of wind direction and wind speed, unless
the rear draft protects it the nose looks prone to lift-off. I only flipped
a boat once and it was not mine... It is not something I suggest ever
doing. Once "I" have a chance to take it for a spin I'll give you my write
up. Now if I could only find a lake around here I could open it up on...

Cross-posted from the BASS FISHING note.
__________________________________________________________________________
I Put the Savage together Saturday. Everthing went smooth except my motor
wouldn't start. It would not get fuel... I found this very funny... My 200hp
motor would never refuse fuel.
Turns out there was air in the line and I couldn't keep the motor running
long enough to burp it. Basically wound up pumping the ball like crazy whilst
Susan turned it over and then she was a purring.
Lots of new features I'm getting used to. To me, it is considerably smaller
than my previous craft. Albeit I never used all the space in the old boat.
It does come out of the hole like a rocket and walks upto 50 effortless. During
the tourney I fished Sunday I couldn't figure why so many switches for the
livewells... Turns out there's more pumps. 2 seperate fresh water/automatic
pumps and 2 recirc pumps. I turned all the pumps on and we had a jaccuzzi
in there. The livewells are an off-wite /bright gray. Very easy to see fish
in the well.
The trailer is different. The brakes are much more sensative and I had to
hook-up an additional wire to my reverse lights because there is a silenoid
that activates and shuts the brakes off in reverse. The trailer is also
lower (drop axle) so you can reach in the boat much easier.
I shut the boat down at 50 and not a drop of water came in the boat. It doesn't
have as good of brakes as the ole boat. This boat needs almost twice the
stopping distance before it sits down.
Performance wise, with the hydrolic steering it corners on a dime and you
can take your hands off the wheel at 65mph and the wheel doesn't move. It
appears to be more stable than its 20' counter part the Nitro 2000DC,my
previous craft. So far so good.
