I WOULD ASSUME THAT THE 500 MAG IS THE SAME WITH RESPECT TO THE 502
AS J_GREEN MENTIONED.
GENERALLY THE ONLY AND I MEAN THE ONLY DIFFRENCE IS INTAKE AND CARB CALLIBRATION
I KNOW THAT FOR '96 THAT THE 5.7 MAG IS NOW FEUL INJECTED AND RATED AT 300HP AT
MOTOR.
I AM NOT SHURE ABOUT THE 7.4 MAG ALLTHOUGH IT IS OFFERED IN FEUL INJECTED
AND CARBURATED.
I WOULD ASSUME THE 500 MAG IS THE 502 AND IS PROBABLY 30 OR SO MORE HP THAN THE
STANDARD 502 CU.IN. MOTOR.
I HAVE SEEN THE 502 500HP IN A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT BOATS (FOUNTIANS CIGARETE ETC)
THEY WERE HOLLY 850 CARBERATED ( THERE ACTUALLY WERE 2 IN ONE 38 FT BOAT

BASED ON WHAT I REMEMBER ABOUT BIG HP MERC MOTORS THE HIGHER THE HP THE LESS THE
WARRENTY.
THEY KNOW THAT ANY ONE WHO BUYS ONE OF THESE MOTORS IS NOT USUING IT TO GO BASS
HUNTING IN THE LOCAL SWIMMING HOLE.
THE 4600-4800 RPM MAX IS THERE TO HELP IN THE LONGEVITY AND RELIABILTY.
MOST AUTO PRODUCTION ENGINES RED LINE AT APPROX. 5500RPM BUT THEY ARE NOT RUN
AT THAT RPM ALL DAY LIKE BOAT ENGINES ARE.
