1188.0. "Know a place for used boating equipment?" by DONVAN::PACL () Mon Aug 29 1994 14:04

    I have just acquired a ski-capable boat but am missing lots of
    necessary stuff (some safety, some fun - like water skis). Anyone know
    of a ggod place in NE that carries used equipment?

	Hmmm... how the heck to answer this one.....???

	It really depends upon what boating items you are looking
for whether they would even be available or feasible for purchase
used.

	For instance, I picked up a pair of wooden water skiis recently
from this file, just as a spare pair of combos for 10 bucks. (Thanks Bruce,
they've already been skiied on more than once!) Places like Sports Replay
in Boston sometimes have used water skiis.

	Conversely, I don't know that I've ever seen a used life
jacket for sale, nor would I bother buying a used one.

	Other equipment, like engine parts and so forth can usually
be a hit-or-miss process. For instance, while touring the back storage
areas of New England Power and Marine (aka MP&M) I spied a dead Mercruiser
140 and knew that a friend needed an alternator bracket from a 140 so I
grabbed it for a buck.

Good luck,

Rick
1188.2The Marine Exchange in Danvers, MAIBR2::AUGERWed Aug 31 1994 10:385
	I haven't been there in several years, but the Marine Exchange on Rt 1
south in Danvers, MA used to carry a lot of used/obsolete marine equipment. They
were located in the rear of a pool parlor on the south bound side of Rt 1 in the
area of the Golden Banana.

    Try Play-it-again Sports on Rt 114 near the Lawrence/Andover line.
    A couple of weeks ago they had a sign, "50% off all water skis".
    (Don't know if that was new or used). You might want to call first at
    508-687-8084.
